Fogel, Lynn

"To paint true to me means being patient, observant and empathetic to my surroundings. My desire is to spark an idea, inspiration and joy in another. My role becomes translating what inspires me and offering back to others what I felt."- Lynn Fogel

Lynn's earliest memory of creating art was when she was just a baby - drawing with crayons on the walls or anywhere else that she could find a drawing surface. Growing up in Santa Barbara, California, she could no longer resist the lure of the big city and moved to Manhattan. During a visit to the Soho District – with its numerous art galleries, her interest in becoming a painter and taking it more seriously was set in place. After a one-year stint in the big city, she moved to Boston and took advantage of a fine education at The New England School of Art and Design in Boston, and at the Montserrat College of Art, in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Currently, as a member of the Santa Barbara Art Association, her works are occasionally displayed at Gallery 113 and other venues. Several of her paintings have been reproduced into limited edition prints and are currently being sold on the Princess Cruise Line ships worldwide; and her original paintings are in private and public collections throughout the world. She has enjoyed being the featured artist in numerous art and design publications.
Mixed mediums create a sense of varied strokes and textures that are fluid and applied like warmed butter. Layered veils of violet shadows and bursting reds and yellows, contrast best and reveals the hidden and not so hidden. "As much as my work draws breath from new ideas and changing experience, I strive for balance between movement and stillness. Sometimes I shut my eyes in order to see."
